“Hear this, you kings! Listen, you rulers! I, even I, will sing to the LORD; I will praise the LORD, the God of Israel, in song.” (Judges 5:3 NIV)

God loves music. Church music. Contemporary music. Rock music. Rap. Classical. You name it, God loves it – if it shows strong values and moral truth. God does not like music with cuss words, music that glorifies violence or hatred, or music that tells us to do evil things. Be he does like any music that promotes goodness, love, and truth, especially when it is his goodness and love and truth that is being sung about.

Do you ever sing to the Lord? Do you ever simply let it rip in the woods, or in the shower, alone in your car as you drive down the road, or in your room? Do you sing out strong and clear in church? God loves people to sing to him. He enjoys the voices (even my voice), and he hears the hearts.

Make a joyful noise to the Lord. Today. Tomorrow. Every day. God will be pleased.

God of music, fill my heart with your music, so that I am always singing for you. Amen.
