“Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, who with his hands has fulfilled what he promised with his mouth to my father David.” [2 Chronicles 6:4 NIV]
I could not find the book on my shelf of a woman who started and led a ministry from about 1950 to 1990. Over those years, the Holy Spirit used that ministry to bring thousands of young people to know our Lord as their personal Savior. Those impacted by the ministry went on to have their own ministry for God. Others grew in grace and became closer to Jesus.
After retirement, she authored a book about her experiences. She wanted those who supported the ministry to see all that God had done. She called the book, “God Did It!” Her ministry was not her idea, or her doing. God was involved from day one, and anything good that came from it was because of God.
In the same way, King Solomon built a tremendous temple in Jerusalem. However, when it came time to show the world what he had done, Solomon took no credit. He proclaimed that God had answered prayer. God had enabled the workers to fashion the temple. God did it from beginning to end.
This is the way we should always want to work in God’s kingdom. Let God lead, involve him through prayer at every step. In that way, your work will last, and God will be pleased.
Lord, help me to step aside and let you do it the way you want. Amen.
