Reading: Easter 8                                                                        Optional Reading: Esther 9, 10

“The king's edict granted the Jews in every city the right to assemble and protect themselves; to destroy, kill and annihilate the armed men of any nationality or province who might attack them and their women and children, and to plunder the property of their enemies.” [Esther 8:11 NIV]

God turned it all around. God stopped the threat against the Jews. God made sure the Jews, Queen Esther, and Uncle Mordecai survived, and the enemies of the Jews were destroyed.

But how had God done it? Through a mysterious sequence of normal human events God engineered the turnaround. Everything that happened in the book of Esther looks normal. Nothing seems weird or crazy. God worked through normal human circumstances to bring about the end he desired.

God will work in your life in the same way. You will not even realize he is doing something. Often, it looks like situations have simply happened without his intervention. Until you look back and recognize his hand has been there all along. God is working behind the scenes leading everything where he wants it to go.

Expect God to open doors for you. Expect him to engineer events in your life so that at times you succeed. Sometimes he will even allow you to fall or fail. He has a purpose for everything. Line yourself up with him. You can trust he will lead it to the end he prepared all along.

Father, I look forward to what you might do in my life today. Amen.
