Reading: Joshua 14 (Optional Reading: Joshua 13, 15, 16)

“I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadesh Barnea to explore the land. And I brought him back a report according to my convictions,” (Joshua 17:7 NIV)

Conviction is on the face of General George Washington as he encourages his men during the Revolutionary War while they camp at Valley Forge. Conviction is in the eyes of Abraham Lincoln as he signs the bill that will set the slaves free. Conviction is in the voice of Martin Luther King, Jr. as he tells a crowd of thousands that he has a dream. You hear conviction in the words of a young man as he tries to interest a friend in Jesus. You can be a person of conviction.

But what does it mean? It means to be convinced so completely that nothing will change you from that belief. What beliefs should you be convinced of? That Jesus is God. That Jesus died for the sins of the world. That Jesus rose again. That Jesus will come again to the earth and take all those who believe in him home to heaven.

Convictions are what life is all about. Our life reflects our own personal convictions. Are you a person of conviction for Jesus?

Lord, teach me to have firm and unwavering convictions and a life that reflects my convictions. Amen.
