“6 Again the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the LORD. They served the Baals and the Ashtoreths, and the gods of Aram, the gods of Sidon, the gods of Moab, the gods of the Ammonites and the gods of the Philistines. And because the Israelites forsook the LORD and no longer served him, 7 he became angry with them. He sold them into the hands of the Philistines and the Ammonites,” (Judges 10:6-7 NIV)

God gets angry. About sin. About hatred. About the bad things people do or say to each other. About lying and stealing. About people who break the Ten Commandments. About cursing, swearing, and saying nasty things.
Does God like these things? No. Does God forgive us for these things? Yes, when we confess them and stop doing them.
In the book of Judges, we see Israel doing all kinds of evil things. They stole from each other. They put down and hated people for being good. Sometimes they even murdered innocent people, worshiped idols, and sacrificed their children to those gods.
God warned Israel again, and again, and again that if they did not change their ways, terrible things would happen to them. Despite God’s warnings, they turned their backs on him and resisted everything God stands for.
God controlled his anger against Israel until it was clear they had rejected him and would not change. He punished them because he is holy and just and he always does what he says.

Father, let me be one person who follows your rules. Amen.
